Cinnamon Wine Sauce fall, winter, sauce, guatemalan 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 clove 1 whole allspice 1 stick cinnamon; 2 inches long 1/4 cup red wine PREPARATION AND COOKING: Put the sugar, clove, allspice, cinnamon, wine, and 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Bring liquid to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer until mixture thickens slightly, 15 to 20 minutes. Strain. (Can cover and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.) Yields: 2 cups NOTES : Simple syrup of sugar in wine with sweet spices.
