Khvorost (Filhozes) doughnuts, russian 2 eggs 6 tablespoon water 2 tablespoon port wine 1/2 teaspoon almond ext 2 tablespoon sugar 3 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon melted butter Beat eggs slightly. Add water, wine, and almond extract. Sift and mix together dry ingredients. Stir into first mixture. Pour in melted butter when partly mixed. Roll out very thing. Cut into squares. Make a cut in one corner and pull the opposite corner through. Fry in deep fat until brown and sprinkle with powdered sugar. (Mary Urista's recipe from St. Mary's RO Church cookbook -- above.)
