Nut Balls (Russian Tea Cakes)

2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cup cake flour
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 confectioners' sugar

Here it is, the exact recipe from Children's Digest that my sister has been using since around 1962: Cream sugar, butter, salt. Add other ingredients except confectioners' sugar. Form dough into balls the size of a small walnut. Bake on ungreased cookie sheat at 300 for 1/2 hr. Cool on a rack; when partially cool, roll in confectioners' sugar.
