1 head cabbage (2 pounds)
1/2 small onion
1 caraway seeds
2 large tart apples
3 tablespoon fat
1/2 small onion
2 tablespoon flour
1 sugar
1 salt

: Remove withered keaves from cabbage, rinse, shred finely, pour boiling water over cabbage, add onion and caraway seeds, cook on high flame uncovered. : Pare apples, grate. : Dice onion, brown lightly in fat, add flour to fat, brown lightly, set aside. : Dilute gravy with cold water and liquid from the cabbage to a thin consistency, stir while cooking, combine with cabbage, cook, mix with apples, add salt and sugar to taste; serve in salad bowl. _Polish Cookbook_, Zofia Czerny, 1961 & 1975.
