Cabbage With Orange And Apples fruits, jewish, mexican, side dish, vegetables 3/4 cup sliced onion 1 1/2 cup peeled and diced apples 4 tablespoon oil 1 medium purple cabbage, sliced very 1 thin 1 cup fresh orange juice 1/2 cup water 1 teaspoon lemon juice 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon ground clove 1 sugar or honey to taste 1 (optional) In a large saute pan cook the onions and apples with the oil till ten der and caramelized. Add the cabbage and stir well till it is all covered wit h the onion-apple-oil mixture. Add the orange juice, water, lemon juice, salt, cinnamon, and clove. Mix well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Let simmer for about 20 min or until the cabbage is nice and tende r. Remove from heat and add honey or sugar if desired.
