10 yd white worsted weight
2 1/2 yd red
2 yd gray
1 crochet hook

size 1 1/2" wide 2 1/2" long gauge in sc 7 sts=2" beg. at top, with white (leave 12" end for working loop later) ch 10, join with sl st to form a ring. NOTE: all rnds are worked on outside of skate. rnd 1: sc in each ch around = 10 sc. note: do not join, work continuous rnds. use a small safety pin or piece of yarn in contrasting color and mark first st of rnd, move marker at beg of each rnd. rnd 2-4: sc in each sc around for 3 rnds rnd 5: sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc (to work dec: draw up a lp in each next 2 sc, yo hook and draw through all 3 lps on hook). sc in each of next 2 sc, 2sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in next sc=13 sc rnd 6: sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, work (sc, hdc) in next sc, work (hdc, sc) in next sc, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2sc=17 sts rnd 7:sc in each of next 9 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2hdc, sc in each of next 6 sc=19 sc rnd 8:sc in each of 19 sc around, sc in next sc(frist st of rnd) sl st in next sc. finish off white. blade:join gray with sl st in 2nd st of rnd (where last sl st was just worked). pinch opening closed. working through both sides at the same time work (hdc, sc) in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts, work (hdc, ch2, cl st) in last st. finish off;weave in ends loop: insert hook in st at top edge under beg yarn edn, hook yarn end and draw through st, ch 10, join with a sl st in same st. finish off, weave in end securely. lace: thread 18" strand of red into needle. beg at center top of skate and work 3 cross sts evenly spaced down center front of skate. tie ends of lace into a bow and trim ends evenly. pompom: make a 1/2" diameter red pompon as follows: wrap yarn around tines of dinner fork;then tie wrapped yarn securely between the center of the tines. cut looped ends and trim to 1/2" size. attach pompon securely to toe end of skate.
