Old Herefordshire Cider Cake cakes, desserts, ethnic 8 oz flour 4 oz sugar 1/4 lb butter 2 each eggs 1/2 each grated nutmeg 1 teacup of cider 1 each level tspn baking soda Beat the butter and sugar into a cream. . Add the eggs, well beaten, then the 4 oz of flour sifted with the baking soda and nutmeg. . Pour over all the cider, beaten to a froth. Mix thoroughly. . Stir in remainder of the flour and mix well together. . Bake in a shallow, well-greased tin, for 45 minutes in a moderate oven.
