Date Candy

1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup liquid honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch salt
1-1/2 cups chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ounces semisweet chocolate; chopped

In saucepan, bring milk, sugar, honey, cinnamon and salt to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 to 18 minutes or until thickened and reduced by one-third. Remove from heat. Stir in dates, pecans, butter and vanilla. Spoon batter into foil-lined 8-inch square cake pan, pressing evenly. In bowl over saucepan of hot (not boiling) water, melt chocolate, stirring occasionally; drizzle over date mixture. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until chilled. Remove from pan. Cut into squares.
