Broiled Porterhouse beef - other, beer 1 2-inch thick porterhouse steak 4 tablespoons olive oil 1 clove garlic 1 pound mushrooms 4 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon flour 1 cup beer 2 teaspoons soy sauce salt and pepper; to taste Brush the steak with olive oil, then sprinkle with half of the finely chopped garlic cloves, salt and pepper to taste and allow the flavour to be absorbed by the steak for one hour. Broil the steak until if is medium rare (20 minutes on either side) and just a few minutes before it is done, sauté the mushrooms in butter and lemon juice until they are tender. Blend in the flour and add the beer. Bring to a boil and add the soy sauce, the remainder of the finely chopped garlic and pepper to taste. Serve the sauce separately.
