Marinated Strawberries Mystère

1 quart fresh strawberries
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar

Wash strawberries, hull and cut in half if small to medium, quarters if they're large. Place in large bowl and sprinkle with sugar and vinegar; toss well. Let rest at room temperature for at least 10 minutes before serving. Spoon into attractive dessert dishes and serve. Notes: If you can't find good red wine vinegar, try balsamic vinegar from Italy for a delightful change. This dessert can also be spooned over cake or cheesecake.
