Appetizer Meatballs In Spicy Black Bean Sauce appetizers, beef - ground 1 egg 2 tablespoons water 1/3 cup fine dry breadcrumbs 1/3 cup minced green onions 1 clove garlic; minced 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef ----SPICY BLACK BEAN SAUCE---- 1/2 cup (each) orange juice and water 1/4 cup (each) packed brown sugar and rice vinegar 2 tablespoons (each) black bean sauce and soy sauce 1 tablespoon cornstarch 2 teaspoons minced gingerroot 1/2 teaspoon chili paste or hot pepper sauce 2 tablespoons chopped green onion tops In bowl, beat egg with water; stir in bread crumbs, onions, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix in beef. Form by tablespoonfuls into balls; arrange on 2 greased rimmed baking sheets. Bake in 400°F oven for 15 minutes or until browned and no longer pink inside. Drain on paper towels. (Meatballs can be frozen in airtight container for up to 2 weeks; thaw in refrigerator) Spicy Black Bean Sauce: In large saucepan, combine orange juice, water, sugar, vinegar, black bean sauce, soy sauce, cornstarch, ginger and chili paste; cook over medium heat, stirring, for 3 minutes or until boiling and thickened. Add meatballs, stirring to coat; cook for 2 minutes or until hot. Transfer to serving bowl; sprinkle with onion tops.
