Barbecued Ribs bbq, pork 3 pounds beef simmering short ribs; sliced 2 onions; chopped 4 cloves garlic; minced 1 cup water 1 cup ketchup 1/4 cup fancy molasses 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1-1/2 teaspoons dried thyme 1 teaspoon dry mustard 3/4 teaspoon (each) salt and pepper 1/2 cup cold water 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoon cider vinegar Cut ribs into 2-rib sections, trimming off fat; place in Dutch oven. Sprinkle with onions and garlic. Whisk together water, ketchup, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, mustard, salt and pepper, pour over ribs. Cover and cook in 350°F oven for 3-1/2 hours or until meat is fork-tender. Skim off fat. Whisk water with flour: whisk in 1/2 cup of the hot liquid from pot. Whisk back into pot. Cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vinegar. SLOW-COOKER SIMMER Use 18- to 24-cup slow cooker. Increase thyme to 2 teaspoons. Cook on Low for 7 to 8 hours, or cook on High for 3-1/2 to 4 1/2 hours. Add flour mixture as above: cook en High for 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vinegar.
