Herbed Biscuit Stars baking 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 4 teaspoons baking powder 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup cold butter; cubed 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives; or green onions 1 egg 1 cup milk In large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle with parsley and chives. In separate bowl, whisk egg; remove and set 1 tablespoon aside for glaze. Whisk in milk; pour over dry ingredients, tossing with fork to create ragged dough. Turn out onto floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times to make dough cohesive. Pat into 1-inch thick disc. With floured 3-inch star-shaped or crinkle-edged cookie cutter, cut out shapes. Place on parchment paper-lined or floured rimless baking sheet. Pat out and cut scraps. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 12 hours; add 2 to 3 minutes to baking time.) Brush with reserved egg. Bake in centre of 450°F oven for 12 minutes or until golden. Serve hot or warm.
