Turnip And Apple Bake vegetables, turkey, christmas 1 rutabaga; about 3 pounds 2 apples 1 large onion; chopped 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon liquid honey 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper Peel and cube rutabaga to make about 10 cups. In large pot of boiling salted water, cover and cook rutabaga for 20 minutes or until tender; drain, reserving 3/4 cup of the liquid. Return rutabaga and reserved cooking liquid to pot. Meanwhile, peel, core and chop apples; add to rutabaga along with onion. Cover and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes or until liquid is almost evaporated. In food processor, puree rutabaga mixture, in batches if necessary; return to pot. Stir in butter, honey, salt and pepper. (Make-ahead: Spoon into 8-inchl8-cup square glass baking dish or shallow ovenproof casserole; cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave at High for 8 minutes or in 350°F oven for about 30 minutes.
