Caramelized Apples And Pears desserts, fruits 1/2 cup granulated sugar 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 2 unpeeled apples; cored, cut in 12 wedges 2 unpeeled pears (ripe but firm); cored, cut in 12 wedges 1/4 cup rum In large skillet; cook sugar over medium high heat; stirring occasionally, until lightly browned and melted. Stir in butter and melt. Add apples and pears, stirring to coat; cook, stirring frequently, until tender about 5 minutes. With slotted spoon transfer fruit to bowl. Add rum to skillet; cook; stirring until thickened 2 to 3 minutes. Pour over fruit. Serve immediately.
