Tourtičre Burgers With Chili Sauce Glaze

pork, beef - ground

1 1/2 pound lean ground beef or pork
1/4 cup chunky chili sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon (each) cinnamon and pepper
pinch ground cloves
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
----Chili Sauce Glaze----
1 cup beef stock
1/2 cup chunky chili sauce

In large bowl, mix together beef, chili sauce, thyme, salt, cinnamon, pepper and cloves. Divide into quarters; form each into 1/2-inch thick patty. In large skillet, heat oil over medium high heat; cook patties for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until no longer pink inside. Transfer to plate; keep warm. Chili Sauce Glaze: Add stock to pan; cook over high heat for 2 minutes, scraping up brown bits from bottom of pan. Add chili sauce; reduce heat to medium low and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until thickened. Return burgers to pan, turning to coat. Serve with sautéed red cabbage or purple cabbage salad.
