Spiced Pita Chips appetizers, breads 1 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 4 whole wheat pitas (7-in diameter); each split into 2 rounds 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon salt In small bowl, combine sesame seeds, fennel seeds, paprika and cayenne. Lightly brush the rough side of each pita round with oil; sprinkle on sesame seed mixture, then salt. Bake on baking sheets in centre of 350°F oven for about 12 minutes or until crisp and golden. Let cool completely on rack; break into chips. TIPS Instead of fennel, paprika and cayenne, you can substitute herbes de Provence, dried rosemary, crumbled, poppy seeds or grated Parmesan cheese. It takes a little longer; but you can cut the pitas into wedges before baking rather than breaking them after.
