Monte Cristo Sandwiches sandwiches, turkey 4 eggs 2/3 cup milk 2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme; or 1/2 teaspoon sliced dried 1/4 teaspoon pepper pinch salt 8 slices (1 inch) white bread 1 tablespoon Dijon mstard 4 ounces old Cheddar cheese; thinly sliced 4 ounces smoked turkey; thinly sliced 2 teaspoon butter In large shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, thyme, pepper and salt; set aside. Spread 4 of the bread slices with mustard; top with cheese and turkey. Sandwich with remaining bread. Dip into egg mixture, turning to soak well. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate on waxed paper-lined baking sheet for up to 4 hours.) In large nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat; cook sandwiches, turning once, until browned and cheese is melted, about 6 minutes.
