Dutch Apple And Pear Cake cakes, fruits 1/3 cup butter; softened 2/3 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup milk 2 cups thinly sliced apples and/or pears; peeled 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 tablespoons melted butter This streusel-topped favorite can be made with apples or pears, or try a tasty combination of both. Cream together butter and sugar; beat in egg and vanilla. Mix together 1 cup flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Spread batter evenly in greased and floured 9-inch square cake pan. Arrange sliced fruit in overlapping slices on top of batter. Mix together remaining ingredients, except cream; sprinkle over fruit. Bake in 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Serve warm with whipped cream, sour cream or ice cream.
